  • Wembley Stadium wows Brent
The Brent Magazine Issue 65 April 2007.

On Saturday 17 March 2007, thousands of Brent residents and businesses made history by being the first to take a glimpse inside the new Wembley Stadium. Visitors not only experienced the legendary Wembley roar but also helped to test key facilities.

A group of Brent youngsters provided the on-the-pitch action with a football drill and coaching session. Outside the stadium, in Wembley Arena Square the Mayor of Brent, Councillor Bertha Joseph introduced a selection of the borough’s dance groups. Over 100 young people strutted their stuff to audiences of over 1,500 before the lucky spectators entered the new stadium.

Umesh Raichada, resident of Wembley, commented: - It was great that local residents had the first opportunity to test the facilities and had a proper chance to see the magnificent national and international stadium after so many years of construction.

The delay was well worth the wait. I would like to congratulate Brent Council and Wembley Stadium for organising this community day – like many people that attended my family had a very enjoyable experience.
