"Kathakahe so Kathak Kahaye" - One who tells a story is the storyteller or Kathakar. The style originated in the temple of North India and then was influenced by the art loving rulers. Today Kathak is characterised by fast rhythmic patterns of footwork, graceful movement and stylised mime or "abhinaya".
